Who Are We?

FIRST Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P) is a leading independent Exploration and Production (E&P) company with maximum delivery capacity across the upstream oil and gas value chain, including drilling, well completion, well testing, and production operations.

The company currently produces over 40,000 bbl/d and remains focused on growing its daily production to 60,000 bbl/d. Following strict adherence to HSE guidelines, FIRST E&P has logged over 5-million-man hours with zero Lost Time Incident till date.

In 2021, FIRST E&P won the “Independent or Indigenous Upstream Operating Company with the most impactful Local Content Initiative” award for local content contributions at the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF) for its contribution to and support of local content, with over 3,000 tonnes of steel materials fabricated locally for the Anyala Project by Nigerian vendors.

With the vision of establishing itself as the most admired independent exploration and production company contributing to the well-being of Nigerians, FIRST E&P aims to set up a shallow offshore-based midstream gas business and that will be fully operational by 2025.

Our Story

From a start up to a relatively young oil-producing company, our focus was initially on the exploration side of the energy (oil and gas) industry, with asset acquisitions, exploration and appraisal of the acquired assets.

Our mark as a relatively young, independent, oil-producing company was made on the 21st of October 2020 (during the Covid-19 pandemic and with no lost-time incidence), when we commenced oil production from the Anyala Field in OML 83. We have since ramped up production with a 40,000 bopd (barrels of oil per day) production plateau attained since Q1 2021. This establishes our organisation as a fully-fledged exploration and production company operating in Nigeria.

Our progression into the commercial and revenue generation phase, commenced with our first vessel of crude oil exported on the 10th of January 2021. With our planned ambition and the inclusion of Madu field in OML 85 in the development, we expect to achieve a 60,000 bopd plateau production in our operation by 2023.

As an organisation, we are fully committed to our aspiration to be the leading Nigerian independent integrated execution vehicle, focused on developing and operating a portfolio of upstream oil and gas assets, with a shallow offshore focus, now and in the future.
