1st Shift Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a 1st shift Maintenance Technician for a permanent hire position with a manufacturing company in the Waukesha area.
Pay: $30-35/HR
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Dismantle and reassemble parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists.
- Read work orders and specification to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
- Clean machines and machine parts using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums or other equipment.
- Familiar with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor, maintain, service and record machine coolant tanks and bulk tanks as needed.
- Maintain way oil levels on various machines.
- Process shop waste - cardboard, garbage, wood, etc.
- Monitor, separate, record and ship all recyclables.
- Monitor waste oil and waste water for removal by outside service.
- Maintain maintenance cleaning equipment.
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
- Clean machines and machine parts as needed using solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required.
- 3+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team oriented environment.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
- Must be able to work productively with minimum supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, feel or handle objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to walk or stand on concrete for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision; vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to focus.
