About the Internship Programme At Laing O’Rourke, we’re committed to equipping our interns with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for success. As part of our comprehensive 12-week Internship Programme, you’ll have the chance to work on a real project site based in Telarah, NSW (Hunter Valley region) during the summer. Here’s what you can expect: Hands-On Experience: Get involved in meaningful work that contributes to our projects. Guidance and Support: Receive supervision, feedback, and mentorship from industry professionals. Weekly Training Sessions: Enhance your skills through specialized training sessions. Networking: Connect with a dedicated buddy and fellow interns. The Internship Programme is open to penultimate year university students (second last year), who are intending to graduate in 2025. It allows you to experience working at Laing O’Rourke, get a sense of our culture and gain a better understanding of the job and future career pathway. Following your internship, you will receive priority consideration for our 2026 Graduate Development Programme. There may also be opportunities for you to remain in the business in a casual capacity while you complete your studies. About the Civil Engineering streamA sample of the type of tasks you may complete as a Civil Engineering Intern include: Building professional relationships with a diverse range of people: from clients to designers to other engineering professionals; suppliers, sub-contractors, Joint Venture/Alliance partners and members of the publicBuilding an understanding of how to translate your university learnings into developing and delivering project solutions to the cost, quality, sustainability and schedule expectationsSupporting planning, scheduling, supervising construction and completion, and monitoring the provision of materials, and working as an effective team memberUsing Digital Engineering methods to deliver value and certainty through our project deliveryDeveloping an understanding of Laing O’Rourke’s ways of working, and looking for opportunities to further improve them Eligibility and how to apply To be eligible for our Internship Programme, you must meet the following criteria: At time of application, hold Australian/ New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency.Be in your second last year of university studies (penultimate year), due to graduate in 2025.Be studying a relevant degree to the role advertised, Bachelor of Civil Engineering or related degree. You will be required to complete an online application form and upload your CV and academic transcript (online transcript is acceptable). Applications close on Sunday 21 July 2024.
