Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Shift: 2nd Shift 2:00PM-10:30PM+ OT as needed
Schedule: Monday - Friday, with Saturdays as needed

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all buildings, structures, and production equipment are maintained in optimal working condition. This role requires expertise in multiple maintenance crafts and trades, with a specialization in at least one (e.g., welding, electrical, PLCs). Additionally, the technician must demonstrate leadership skills, maintain a positive work environment, and contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of the plant. All tasks must be performed in compliance with GMP and safety guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and executes maintenance work with minimal supervision.

  • Utilizes various carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and welding tools, including saws, hammers, drills, paint brushes, grinders, sanders, and power tools.

  • Maintains and repairs production and support equipment, including:

    • Pasteurizers, homogenizers, spray dryers, steam kettles, mixers, agitators, drum fillers, rollers, conveyors, bottle fillers, induction sealers, pallet lifters, boilers, cooling towers, chillers, centrifuges, powder blenders, tanks (10-2,000 gallons), positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps, air diaphragm pumps, temperature chart recorders, VFDs, AC units, pneumatics, hydraulics, atomizers, and peristaltic pumps.

  • Orders supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for maintenance operations.

  • Leads technical applications, including installation of new equipment.

  • Generates and processes work orders for repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Ensures all production areas and facility grounds are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

  • Completes daily time sheets accurately.

  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests, including during off-duty hours.

  • Enforces departmental policies and procedures through leadership and example.

  • Assists in additional maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor.

  • Conducts boiler inspections and maintenance, including:

    • Initial startup and hourly checks.

    • Scheduled shutdowns and participation in annual inspections.

    • Repairs or replacement of steam system components (traps, valves, filters, etc.).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Skilled knowledge in all maintenance crafts and trades, with expertise in at least one specialized field.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs frequently.

  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license, current automobile liability insurance, and ability to operate company vehicles.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to complete administrative tasks.

  • Basic mathematical skills.

  • Personal hand tools required as per the Maintenance Department Tool List.

  • Willingness to work at any company facility as needed.
