Position Overview:

A 3D Product Designer is passionate about design and enjoys the opportunity to infuse their soul into design work but is very process driven and a diligent with prioritization of task management and completion. Trust and confidentiality are undoubtedly ensured. It is important to have the ability to read your customers needs; making the customer feel comfortable on their level while still remaining a true professional and executing the Cristaux values.

Within the Creative Department, the 3D Product Designer will provide support for the Sales Team towards creating concepts for all potential clients. This must be done utilizing research & development, brainstorming, client/sales team meetings, hand sketching, and knowledge of all material options within the clients budget, as well as the ability to push the boundaries of fashion trends and art. Once a client is ready to proceed, the 3D Product Designer must be able to create die lines (blueprints) that will be sent to the factories for manufacturing of the product and along with any templates for the Art Department so they can proof the personalization.

Specific Position Requirements:

  • Must have at least a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of design experience.
  • Proven experience creating projects within a clients budget.
  • Proven experience with direct but professional communication with a client to ensure the vision is efficiently captured.
  • Assist in training efforts for new creative designers.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve the department or processes for the company.
  • Proactively communicate needs of the department.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding design talent, passion and creativity.
  • The ability to work and report metrics directly to manager.
  • Full understanding and proficiency of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including but not limited to InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator & Acrobat.
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD, 3ds Max, and Keyshot.
  • Meeting the highest of customer service expectations and providing a very personable experience for our clients.
  • Involvement in sales meetings with clients or prospects to provide suggestions and solicit feedback may be required
  • Open collaboration and contributing design ideas with internal and external parties to bring a design to life.
  • Proactively working with other designers on research and development, and conceptual development of custom projects, including but not limited to Cristaux exclusive products.
  • Responsible for learning the decoration machinery & decoration methods used in the decoration of all products. This includes understanding the process of setting up the correct file types necessary for accurate production with instructions.
  • Keeping open communication with manager addressing constraints and successes.
  • Keep open communication/feedback/brainstorming/meetings within Creative & Fabrication Department for departmental growth & learning opportunities.
  • Facilitation of projects to 3rd party design assistance through vendors or other channels.
  • Proficient in adjusting client files and creating 2D & 3D designs.
  • Preparation of design files for internal and external production processes.
  • Frequent communication with the Senior Project Manager with oversight and inspection of completed product.
  • Sending creative proofs, CAD design proofs and full broker project proofs
  • Continuously be forward thinking to recommend and adjust processes to improve internal efficiency and the client experience.
  • Research and Development physically working with the machinery
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Qualifications and Physical/Mental Requirements:

The 3D Product Designer must have the ability to communicate to clients and team clearly and effectively in person as well as via email, phone, and video conference. The 3D Product Designer must be able to work at a desk for majority of the day, but also capable of hand-on designing & creating of prototypes. A complete understanding of material & decoration options is mandatory, as well as application in the production process. Travel may be required based upon the needs of the business and development of the departments. Must also be flexible with hours and willing to work longer as needed.

Daily tasks include: Sitting, occasional walking or standing, answering phone calls, maintaining emails, communicating to team via chat client, participating in conference calls, computer related tasks, archiving files digitally, working in a team and independently, critical thinking, meeting with production team and/or clients, occasional travel, receiving packages, maintain good customer and employee relations.
