The team is responsible for providing accounting advice/opinions on transactions, producing accounting policy and implementing newly published accounting guidance for IFRS and USGAAP at the Group level covering all accounting topics. You will be responsible for providing accounting advice on both IFRS and USGAAP for Group purposes and advice on USSTAT for local purposes. focusing on insurance transactions in the America's region and a more global role in the life & health area. The role will also oversee the America's risk transfer process. The Group will move to IFRS in 2024 from USGAAP, so the focus for the future will be on IFRS, but also on USGAAP until the Group has transitioned. USSTAT for local purposes will be ongoing. In addition, support on accounting policy and implementation topics will be required. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual that will strengthen our team. You will have the excellent opportunity to actively impact and support the organization in the move to IFRS, provide accounting advice on transactions, and establish policy. The role is an accounting advice expert role. We are looking for applicants that have a keen interest in complex accounting policies, and a strong understanding of the insurance and reinsurance business and products. You will also interface with Business Unit teams for Reinsurance, CorSo, and IptiQ helping ensure consistent application of Group Policy in transactions. About the team The Accounting Advice/research team is part of Group Reporting located in Zurich and New York responsible for USGAAP/IFRS accounting transaction advice, accounting policy and new accounting guidance implementation. About You - CPA (or equivalent) - Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products – L&H and/or P&C; - Minimum of 10 -15 years of insurance experience in an Accounting/Finance function - Keen interest in the interpretation and application of accounting standards, and ability to translate that into solid accounting conclusions and advice to deal teams. In addition, a demonstrated ability to translate principles-based concepts into guidelines and opinions. - Experience in application of US GAAP, IFRS accounting principles and USSTAT regulation. Knowledge of economic frameworks is a plus - Highly motivated with an ability to work in a collaborative environment - Strong analytical and organizational skills - Ability to sustain high level of work output and meet very tight deadlines - Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience in dealing with key stakeholders and in working on significant projects - Independent thinking and creative problem-solving skills - Keen sense of pragmatism - Fluency in English language - verbal and written communication
