Accounts Payable Contractor

6+ Month Contract for Leading Oil & Gas Company! Salary: $27 - $35 per hour


Based in the Houston area, we are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Contractor in the energy industry. This is a dynamic role that offers the opportunity to work with a leading company in the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounts payable function including the RightAngle system, with a particular focus on hydrocarbon accounting. Medical, Dental, & Vision Plans; Oversee all aspects of the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor management.


Maintain and update vendor records, including contact information, payment terms, and tax information.


Prepare and review accounts payable reports and spreadsheets.


Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.


Collaborate with other departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to accounts payable.


Participate in the month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.


Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in accounts payable and the energy industry.


Contribute to the continuous improvement of the accounts payable process by identifying and implementing process efficiencies.


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounts payable role, preferably in the energy industry.


Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.


Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.


Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to accounts payable.


Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification is a plus.
