Job Summary: The Manager of Electrical Engineering (Design) will lead the electrical design team for renewable energy projects, specializing in the design of electrical systems, components, and grid integration. This role focuses on the end-to-end electrical design process, ensuring that electrical systems for wind, solar, and energy storage installations are optimized for performance, efficiency, and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Electrical System Design Leadership: Lead the electrical design efforts for renewable energy projects, including developing electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams for solar, wind, and energy storage systems. Oversee the design of electrical systems Ground Mounted, AC & DC including power generation, transmission, control, and protection systems, ensuring designs are innovative, reliable, and cost-effective. Lead design activities related to high and medium-voltage systems, grid interconnection, energy storage integration, substations, transformers, switchgear, inverters, and electrical protection systems. SCADA Detailed Design & Technical Specifications: Lead the preparation of detailed electrical design packages, including all technical specifications, drawings, and calculations necessary for project execution. Ensure that all electrical systems are designed in compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE), and project-specific requirements. Prepare and review detailed technical documents, including schematics, design reports, and electrical system specifications, to support procurement and construction phases. Grid Integration and Design: Design electrical systems with a focus on seamless integration into the grid, ensuring compliance with grid codes and connection requirements for renewable energy systems. Design and optimize system integration solutions that address grid stability, voltage regulation, frequency control, and reactive power management. Lead efforts to conduct grid impact assessments, develop power flow models, and optimize electrical designs for smooth integration with utility networks. Protection and Control System Design: Lead the design and specification of electrical protection systems to ensure the safety, stability, and fault tolerance of the electrical infrastructure. Design and implement control systems that manage and monitor electrical performance across renewable energy projects, ensuring smooth operations under varying grid conditions. Collaborate with automation engineers to design intelligent control systems for renewable energy plants, integrating real-time data and monitoring for enhanced reliability. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with civil, mechanical, and other engineering teams to ensure electrical systems are integrated seamlessly with other project components and site-specific constraints. Provide design leadership during interdisciplinary coordination meetings, ensuring that electrical design objectives align with project timelines, budgets, and overall engineering goals. Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure electrical designs are practical, constructible, and cost-effective. Quality Assurance and Design Reviews: Establish and lead regular design reviews to ensure all electrical systems are developed in line with the highest engineering standards and project goals. Implement a robust quality control process for electrical designs, ensuring that all designs are accurate, safe, and free from errors. Monitor the design development process to ensure compliance with internal and external quality assurance standards, mitigating potential issues during the construction phase. Cost-Effective Design & Value Engineering: Provide leadership in the design process to balance cost-effectiveness with quality, ensuring that electrical systems deliver optimal performance within project budgets. Lead value engineering initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the integrity or functionality of electrical systems. Develop design strategies that reduce operational and maintenance costs over the lifecycle of the renewable energy systems. Qualifications: Education : Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s degree preferred). Experience : 10+ years of electrical engineering design experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within renewable energy projects (solar, wind, energy storage).
