
Advanced Process Engineer
Job Summary:Responsible for development of new and improved process for custom polymer compounds. Responsible for scale up and process testing plan and procedures, data analysis, and communication of results. Primary contact with Manufacturing for writing and communication of production specifications. Three plus years direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction. Essential Functions: R&D coordinates with manufacturing partners to establish quality and testing conditions for established Avient products.Participate in development of scale-up, process testing plans and procedures, data analysis, and/or communication of results.Develop technical specifications required for established Avient products.Documentation and preparation of product specifications for Avient products.Participates in resolution of plant production issues.Other duties as assigned Avient Corporation is a drug-free workplace. Strong knowledge of formulating and processing of polymer compounds, with a strong background in polymer structure property relationships and polymer blendsStrong skills in the scientific method and use of design of experiments for data-driven research Strong knowledge of analytical characterization techniques for rheological, mechanical and, thermal properties of polymersWorking knowledge of polymer processes, including compounding with twin screw extruders and injection molding.Works safely in the laboratory and plant settingsExperience with product approval processes and qualifications at automotive OEMs is desirable Additional Qualifications: Use of statistical software (StatEase, Minitab, SigmaPro or similar) for executing DOEsStrong competencies in using Microsoft Word for documentation and report writing Strong competencies in use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project for research needsGreenbelt (or higher) in Six Sigma DMAIC desirable Competencies: Excellent presentation and communication skillsExcellent project management and organisational skills required to develop detailed project timelines with key milestones and deliverablesThe candidate must be collaborative and work effectively across cross-functional teams to drive projects from lab-to-commercial scaleThe ideal candidate is an independent thinker and self-motivated to address technical challenges Each position at Avient focuses on eight Core Competencies as a Leader of Self.Additionally, management positions focus on Leadership Competencies as a Leader of Others and/or a Leader of the Business.These competencies are designed to drive behaviour that will ultimately help our associates excel at their current roles, while supporting individual and career development.
