Analogue/Digital Electronics Design Engineer
Purpose of the role:
Working with a team of experienced RF, electronics and mechanical engineers you will contribute to the design of radio frequency products with responsibility for analogue and digital circuit design and schematic capture, ensuring that electrical performance, quality, cost and manufacturability requirements are met.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Together with inputs provided by our team of RF engineers, you will design electronic circuits incorporating mixed technologies for telecommunications, satellite and defence products.
You will be specifically responsibility for the:
Specification, design, development, and test of digital systems and circuits for high-speed communications.
Digital circuit design utilising FPGAs, glue logic, ADCs, DACs & microprocessors.
Low voltage module power supply design including linear and switch mode PSUs.
Component bias circuit design
Analogue circuits including signal conditioning, filters, op-amps…
Detailed analogue and digital electronic circuit specification and design including component selection and circuit simulation.
Work with various digital interface standards and protocols such as PCIe, USB, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet to ensure compatibility and high performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and firmware engineers, to ensure seamless integration of analogue/digital solutions into larger systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and communication issues related to digital circuits and interfaces.
Perform system-level integration and testing to ensure circuits meet performance and reliability requirements.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and DIFI-related standards.
Schematic capture
Definition of circuit board requirements including materials and layer stack-up.
Delivery of fully verified and documented designs in line with project defined technical, schedule and cost constraints.
Thermal, MTBF, component derating analysis and tolerance analysis.
Undertake design verification and validation including preparation of test specifications, test reports and reliability testing/evaluation in our fully equipped labs.
Pro-actively participate in design reviews and to initiate design reviews in order to mitigate risk when appropriate.
Handle component obsolescence issues and propose suitable alternatives.
Problem-solving and fault diagnosis of manufactured products during product introduction, including definition and train-out of diagnostic procedures.The successful candidate will satisfy the following requirements:
Relevant Degree (or equivalent).
Experience with analogue and digital signal processing (DSP) techniques for RF applications.
Demonstrable experience of component level electronic circuit design and development.
Experience in circuit schematic using Altium Designer desirable.
Familiarity with EMC/EMI design and testing
An awareness of high-volume surface mount process / technologies and design for high volume manufacture.
Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
Experience with software defined radio (SDR) systems desirable
Experience of RF / microwave electronic circuit design and implementation desirable
