We are excited to announce an IMMEDIATE HIRING OPPORTUNITY for Experienced Apprentice Electricians with E3 to E5 ratings for our San Antonio, TX division!

What We Offer:

  • $500 Sign-On Bonus, paid after 60 days of employment with Walker Engineering.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Apprentice License: MUST have an Active Texas Apprentice License, through TDLR.
  • Licenses/ID: Current Driver’s License and/or State ID.
  • Education: High School Graduate, GED or equivalent is .
  • Experience: Requires at least 1 year of experience in the E2 classification.
  • Tools: MUST have basic hand tools of the trade.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps in securing, relocating and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment from and back to appropriate storage areas.
  • Keeps the work area clean by collecting and disposing of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Keeps materials and tools clean and organized in an orderly fashion.
  • Assists in pulling wire, lifting, hoisting and positioning materials.
  • May operate less complicated hand tools and equipment under direct supervision of a Foreman or more senior electrician.
  • Assists in mounting and strapping.
  • May assist more senior personnel in less complicated electrical installations under close supervision.
  • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Meets attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
  • DOES NOT WORK ON ENERGIZED CIRCUITS OR EQUIPMENT.

E2 - Minimum Skills:

  • Basic wire identification and bending:
    • Identify wire colors.
    • Perform 90-degree and offset conduit bends.
    • Understand hand bender markings.
  • Basic electrical knowledge:
    • Wire pulling procedures.
    • Tool and material identification.
  • Rough-in tasks:
    • Wall rough-in.
    • Fixture rough-in.
  • Wire gauge knowledge:
    • Match caps/connectors to the correct wire gauge.

E3 - Minimum Skills (plus E2 skills):

  • Intermediate conduit bending:
    • 3-point saddle bends.
    • Back-to-back bends.
  • Installations:
    • Terminate junction boxes.
    • Install conduit branches and feeders.
    • Fixture connections.
  • Underground rough-in:
    • Materials and methods.

E4 - Minimum Skills (plus E2 and E3 skills):

  • Advanced conduit bending:
    • 4-point saddle bends.
    • Kick bends.
  • Layout and blueprints:
    • Read basic blueprints.
    • Perform layout from field sketches.
  • Advanced installation:
    • Panel terminations.
    • Size conduits and boxes.
  • Underground work:
    • Layout and rough-in.

E5 - Minimum Skills (plus E2, E3, and E4 skills):

  • Leadership and troubleshooting:
    • Layout work and prepare materials.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve circuit issues.
  • Advanced underground work:
    • Perform underground layout and rough-in.
  • Advanced installations:
    • Determine wire and conduit sizing.
    • Install bus feeders.

  • This job operates in a client project environment with exposure to employee, subcontractors and trades.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
  • Ability to comprehend forms in space and understand relationships of plane and solid objects. May be used in such tasks as blueprint reading and in solving geometry problems. Frequently described as the ability to “visualize” objects of two and three dimensions, or to think visually of geometric forms.
  • Ability to manipulate materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs. The frequency of manipulation if frequently.
  • Ability to move up or mount by using the hands or feet to include:
  • Ladders - Step stool, 8' to 10' ladder, extension ladder
  • Stairways - 3 or more flights
  • To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily.
  • To stretch out, extend, or put forth a bodily part. To touch or grasp something, by extending or stretching. To touch, lift, hold or operate with the hands up to 50 times daily.
  • To perceive or comprehend by the sense of sight.
  • Characteristics are Focus, perception or depth perception.
  • The ability to operate or convey in a vehicle, car, commercial vehicle.
