Archaeological Field Technician

We have an immediate opening for a Field Archaeologist in the Placer County area. This is an on call position.

VARIOUS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

• Ability to recognize cultural artifacts, human remains, village sites, midden deposits
• Monitor all ground distributing activity including mass grading, grubbing, weed abatement, trenching and any excavation on previously disturbed and undisturbed ground
• Does or oversees field inspections of proposed projects areas
• Perform cultural resources monitoring at construction sites to implement mitigation measures to avoid impacts to cultural resources
• Conduct field surveys
• Can work in extreme weather conditions
• Record data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology
• Ability to read maps
• Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project

VARIOUS DEGREES & SKILLS

• Masters’ Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or other related degree
• Previous construction monitoring experience in similar California environments
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and project tracking software and databases

Upon a conditional job offer, a drug test and background check will be required.

Compensation based on experience.
