The Opportunity: We have a new opportunity for you to join the WSP archaeology team (as an Archaeology Field Technician I based out of our London and Burlington Offices. As part of our Archaeology Team, you will be involved in various stages of archaeological fieldwork from Stage 2 surveys to Stage 4 excavations in Ontario. Note that this is a seasonal position for the 2024 field season, starting in September 2024 (as soon as weather allows). Work outdoors in a wide variety of weather and ground conditions. Support Field Supervisors and provide assistance where needed. Participate in a team environment providing support to other field technicians and assisting with field activities as required. Maintain a high standard of ethical and professional behavior and demonstrate a "Safety First" focus and act as a role model to other staff. Work outdoors in a wide variety of weather and ground conditions. What you'll bring to WSP: Ability to work daily at field site locations. You enjoy fieldwork and like to work in a team environment! Willingness and ability to perform physical demanding and repetitive movement tasks: (e.g., hand shoveling, troweling, screening soil/earth), work outdoors for long days in rough terrain, harsh elements (hot & cold temperatures) and remote locations; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate information, questions, concerns related to the site work to Field Supervisor in a professional and timely manner. Ability to work well as part of a team, or independently when required Ability to travel and work on out-of-town projects (hotel stays), as required. A valid Ontario driver's license and clean drivers abstract. Reliable transportation to-&-from designated WSP E&I Canada Limited project site or office meet spot is essential. Knowledge of archaeological artifacts is considered an asset. Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field considered an asset. One (1) field season of archaeological experience in Ontario, including shovel testing and test unit excavation, considered an asset.
