Area Engineering Lead, Office of CTO

OverviewThe Office of the CTO, Microsoft Asia, works with Corporate, Regional and Area teams to address the most critical technical problems and questions confronting Microsoft customers in Asia. Specifically, OCTO works on the topmost technical customer priorities as designated by the Asia Leadership team, that cannot be managed through regular field channels, or need curation over multiple time horizons. The office of the CTO consists of 4 teams: Depth Engineering, Area Engineering, Redmond Engineering and Operations and Programs.The Area Engineering Team represents OCTO in timezone, with one Area Engineering Lead (AEL) per Microsoft Area.QualificationsCreating an inclusive and empowering culture is core to our group values. OR bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field WITH 6+ years industry experience related to technology.Thorough understanding of Microsoft’s AI and cloud strategies and capabilities.Familiarity with first and third-party AI offerings; as well as with one or more solution area such as – Data, Cybersecurity, Azure Infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to drive large, complex programs that deliver high quality outcomes for technical and business-related customer issues.Experience in orchestrating across matrixed organizations, including at the senior most levels within an organization.Excellent interpersonal, group dynamic and customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to communicate at a C-suite level.Ability to work autonomously and independently within a regionally dispersed team environment.Proficiency in English and local language required.Preferred Qualifications12+ years’ experience as an architect, consultant, or technical delivery/solutions expert and/or3+ years Customer facing experience in a technical capacity.Experience in Azure Open AI, Fabric, Cloud-scale solution architecture or Software development.Experience in and/or significant knowledge of the Digital Natives space is a plus.Prior experience in formal or informal leadership positions.Knowledge of the competitive environment for Microsoft in the region.Bachelor’s or higher degree or equivalent industry experienceResponsibilitiesThe OCTO Area Engineering team is seeking a passionate technologist to be the Area Engineering Lead (Technical Program Manager) of the Greater China Area (PRC, HK, Taiwan).The AEL works directly with Area Leadership, and across Microsoft, on the highest priority technical issues impacting customer adoption, deployment, consumption and ACR. The role includes, but is not limited to, unblocking complex technical challenges in concert with teams such as Global Customer Success, accelerating key initiatives such as AI Design Wins, Security and Proactive Resiliency, increasing Technical IQ through thought leadership and coaching, strategic orchestration with Engineering; and being a senior technical advisor to the LT, at the Area level.Area Technical Strategy - Be the strategic advisor and technical partner for the Area LT and xLT. Have a 360-degree view of an Area’s technical priorities and gaps and be an advocate for the topmost technical needs of an Area’s customers.Area technical unblocking – Work on the highest priority, most complex technical escalations and issues impacting customer adoption, deployment or consumption of Microsoft cloud technologies in an Area, in concert with other MSFT Corp and Field teams.Area Technical Acceleration - Orchestrate with senior engineering and corporate resources to support the acceleration of technical initiatives and new technologies in an Area e.g. AI Design WinsArea Tech Intensity - Help build and land capabilities to increase the technical IQ of the Area in partnership with both Area and Corp stakeholders.Landing of Engineering and Technical Initiatives – Partner with corp and area teams to accelerate the landing of key initiatives and across region priorities driven by CTO ASIA, Corp, or Asia HQ in their area such as proactive resiliencyStrategic Customer and Partner Relationships – Maintain strategic relationship with key customers at CTO/ CDO level to drive business outcomes and build a strong technical leaders’ community across Asia.
