Assembly Engineering Manager

Job Summary

This position is responsible to manage the Assembly Engineering Department, directing Assembly Engineering Members, and establishing manufacturing processes with provided tooling and equipment to assure competitive, safe, high-quality manufacturing of Spot-Welded High Strength Steel Body in White components in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment along while seek continuous improvement in quality and cost.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and training of Assembly Engineering Members including routine evaluations and goal setting.
  • Communication with Production, Quality, HR, and other relevant depts.
  • Co-develop/mature new program products with other related Engineering Departments and other relevant functions, including Japan Engineering members.
  • Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) on existing products including cycle time and efficiency, dimensional accuracy, scrap reduction, and manpower requirements.
  • Leadership for implementation for design changes.
  • Check tooling before shipping it from Japan (Ability to travel abroad)
  • Feedback on problems to design standards.
  • Department budget and cost management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements for the Position

·        Previous technical resources management experience.

·        Previous experience in a robotic automation manufacturing company. Experience in resistance welding is .

·        Experience in establishing processes flows and system controls suitable to the commodity.

·        Proficient with  AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks or other CAD software.

·        Ability to effectively communicate with related departments, customers, Corp Officers, and others as needed.

·        Ability to develop and deploy business plans and strategies.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • B.S. degree in Engineering related discipline is but 5 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Prior management experience.
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a metal manufacturing environment .

 

Mathematical Skills                                  

·        Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic arithmetic.

 

Computer Skills    

·        Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

 

Other Skills and Abilities  

·        Mechanical knowledge ()

·        Process Improvement ()

Special requirements

·        Overtime and travel will be required as the above duties necessitate or for the support of other TAC facilities and activity.

The employee must occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 35 pounds. Above shoulder work applies to fabrication type settings and should not be repetitive. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

·        While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee normally performs work in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility and/or office setting. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock are not expected. The use of hand tools does expose the employee to vibration on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require additional PPE per Topre America’s PPE policy.

·        Medium - Lifting 50 pounds maximum and/or carrying up to 25 pounds frequently.
