A rare opportunity has arisen to work with this well-established Engineering company, based in the Worthing area. The company are leaders in their field and specialise in repair and maintenance of all types of rotating plant equipment.

THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a time-served Engineer to work on a Monday to Friday 07:30am – 4.00pm basis at the company’s workshop based in the Worthing area. This permanent position is well suited to an individual with extensive workshop experience who would enjoy being a mentor to their up-and-coming Engineers. Duties will include:

  • The disassembly, inspection and assembly of pumps, fans and motors
  • Cleaning and painting of all parts required.
  • Electrically testing motors: Electrostatic tests on the motor windings and light run testing units once they have been repaired.
  • Upgrading mechanical seal assemblies to suit the customers application.
  • Pressure testing pump units.
  • Checking all journals and housings sizes & condition to ensure they are in a serviceable condition.
  • Painting of repaired units.
  • Liaising frequently with customers.
  • Ordering spares, new pumps, fans and motors purchased by the customers and for the site services.
  • Providing quotations to the customers.
  • Liaising with suppliers.
  • Booking in the tasks for repairs and site services.
  • Training apprentices and new starters.
  • Developing the skill set within the team by coaching with hands on guidance and visual learning.
  • Ensuring targets are met on project work and working to service level agreements.

THE PERSON

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

  • 2391 Inspection & Testing qualified (or 2394 & 2395)
  • Industrial Electrical Training Apprenticeship or Industrial Electrical experience
  • Familiarity with completing RAMS and will be able to complete accurate and concise paperwork.
  • Calm and methodical attitude when diagnosing faults and fixing problems whilst potentially under pressure from a customer whose production line is at a standstill!
  • Ability to work unsupervised when on-site.
  • Great communication skills – able to talk confidently with both technical and non-technical clients.
  • MUST relish the challenge of fixing a piece of kit you may not have seen before and be comfortable crawling around inside machines and moving kit around!
