The Langham, Melbourne currently has an exciting opportunity available for a full time Assistant Chief Engineer to join our Engineering Team. You will have the opportunity to work with the Engineering team which consists of approximately 15 colleagues . This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career within The Langham. This position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel's ongoing success. Your responsibilities will include: Responsible for the maintenance & works of the hotel ensuring all aspects conform to local, state and federal legislation. Provide a professional, advisory and executive support service to the Chief Engineer to assist in meeting the strategic goals of the establishment. Supervise the Maintenance Request System. Assist and administer all Engineering contracts throughout the Hotel. Oversee the general cost control aspects of maintenance. Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment and ensure that inspections required by Government authorities are conducted and documented. Carry out general room inspections and preventative maintenance inspections. Source quotations and supervise Contractors on site. Control and supervise the Fire Protection Preventative Maintenance Program. Check all Fire and Engineering safety features to ensure same is operable at peak efficiency. Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment in the Hotel. Ensure proper measures are taken to protect the environment and the Hotels adherence to it. Institute systems to save energy and resources. Implement energy management systems to minimise wastage and costs. Implement cost effective Preventative Maintenance Programs. Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of building, electrical and mechanical services, water features, fixtures, furnishings and equipment. Liaise and supervise all Contractors on site and ensure appropriate standards are met. For this role, your attributes will be inclusive of the following: Previous experience in a similar environment. Experience in some trade based skill sets. Proven experience in working to tight deadlines. Ability to work well unsupervised. Available to work across a rotating roster involving weekends. As you will have a high level of guest contact, you will require excellent presentation and communication skills.
