Assistant Construction Director

We want to hear from you.As a Construction Director working in the Industrial team at Pomerleau Construction, you will participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, scheduling, safety, quality and performance. Working on large-scale Industrial projects – ranging from $50 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with our different internal departments as well as be the primary point of contact with the client regarding all project field activities.What You Will DoEnsure that all thecivil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentationwork meets the requirements of the project specifications and drawings isconducted within schedule and authorized budgets and is executed in compliancewith safety, quality and environmental standards;Overseeing thebudgeting, organization, implementation, planning and scheduling of theconstruction activities of the project;Provide overall technical and administrativedirection for the project construction activities;Conduct the site meetings, deal withContractor(s) work progress, schedule reviews, and construction coordination;Maintain a daily Site Diary & attendsmeetings;Track daily work andreview contractors work plans, activities, and resources;Supervise and direct field staff;Plan and schedule all or part of the onsitestaff and staff that come to the site on an intermittent basis;Coordinate, supervisethe construction process from conceptual development stage through the finalconstruction on a timely and economical basis insuring adherence to safety,environmental, and technical regulations and initiatives;Represent the owner to assure allconstruction-related activities performed by the contractor are performed inaccordance with design, budget and schedule, meets accounting requirements, andis completed to quality standards;Lead the construction team through the durationof construction, testing and commissioning of the project;Participate in project decisions regardingtechnical approaches, cost, scheduling, safety, quality and performance;Act as primary client contact for allproject-field activities;Assist with implementation/interpretation ofsafety programs in conjunction with the safety officer;Will have responsibility to deliver a successfulproject. This role could be for you if you haveYou have a University Degree in engineering / Architecture and/or CEGEP DEC in engineering/ Architecture/construction technology or equivalent trade certification with Business, administrative, and management experience;PMP certification or equivalent in one or more areas of construction management;Construction Site Safety course & WHMIS (SIMDUT) certification;Over 10 years related work experience in construction management and at least 5 years of experience as construction manager;Strong skills in management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving;Demonstrated initiative and leadership;Geographical mobility.Additional Assets Include: Fluent in both official languages written and oral (English and French).Why You Should ApplyFor the past four years, we've proudly held the distinction of being one of Canada's Top 100 Employers.Read our entire list of benefits !Who We AreWe are Pomerleau, anational leader in the construction industry, specializing in building, civil and infrastructure, and major projects throughout Canada.
