Job DescriptionJob Description *This will include a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.*The Department of Defense (DOD) manages the DOD SkillBridge Program, an opportunity for active-duty Service Members to gain civilian work experience during their last 180 days of service. DOD SkillBridge connects service members with organizations that offer opportunities for transitioning Service Members to build their resumes, explore employment interests, and develop job skills.
Through Thorne’s SkillBridge Program, we will assist Service Members in developing professional skills and gaining valuable industry work experience through on-the-job training to prepare for future internships or employment in the civilian workplace. In accordance with the DOD SkillBridge Program, internships are full time and not to exceed 40 hours each week. All internships at Thorne will be at least 3 months/12 weeks in length.

ELGLBILITY REQUREMENTS
Service members may begin their after the following requirements have been met:
- Service members may participate in a Thorne SkillBridge Program opportunity no earlier than 180 days prior to release from active duty.
- Be approved by unit commander for a minimum of a 3 months/12-week . Please note Thorne is a "Cohort Employer" which requires approval from both the immediate unit commander and installation superior above the commander.
- Agree that participation in SkillBridge can be terminated at any time by the service if mission requirements dictate.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Production Supervisor- SkillBridge aids in leading daily operations and personnel within multiple production departments. This position takes an active stance in training with Production Supervisors and Senior Leadership to develop the skills required to become a successful supervisor. Must be capable of meeting and improving established quality standards and goals, ensuring all department operations are in compliance with cGMP and OSHA and all necessary components/resources are available.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.
- Coordinates the daily activities of production leads and operators in accordance with compliance, quality, and the Master Schedule productivity goals.
- Ensures the completions and accuracy of all controlled production documents, including MDR, MMR, etc. before submitting them to the next section or department.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide ongoing written and oral direction and clarity to production leads and operators.
- Responsible for scheduling production activities as planned, including personnel, hours, and equipment utilization.
- Ensures all necessary components and resources are available to meet production requirements in compliance with established quality standards and goals.
- Continually updates Operations leadership on compliance issues, quality, production goals, and equipment issues.
- Demonstrates the ability to review production activities and compare to production plan to assist in the elimination of backorders and ensure the proper inventory of finished goods is maintained.
- Ensures production equipment and work areas are cGMP compliant.
- Assists in coordinating with quality assurance and lab personnel to ensure that quality issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to create, review and approve manufacturing procedures in accordance with cGMP and Thorne guidelines.
- Under the direction of the Direct Supervisor/Senior Production Leadership, ensures Credentialed Training program (including safety training and forklift certification) is met. Further ensures training is reasonably continuous, timely, and conducted before employees begin new tasks. Ensures that department training records are kept up-to-date as applicable.
- Monitors the production certification program and ensures cross training.
- Develops teamwork with other functional groups, communicates goals throughout the Production departments, sets the pace and is proactive.
- Demonstrates the ability to audit all areas of operation for safety concerns and ensures PPE is available and used by all workers.
- Seeks formal and informal performance assessments of self, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential.
- Actively participates in required training and development programs and electives as suits one’s needs, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Being able to meet the Physical Demands of the job is an essential duty of the job. The various departments at Thorne Research include Production, Operations, Quality, Accounting/Finance, Medical Affairs, Administration, Information Technology, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, and Sales.
- Must be able to safely work with ingredients and products that are derived from possible allergenic sources including but not limited to nuts, soy, dairy, fish, and shellfish.
- Must be medically qualified to work while using a half-mast respirator or a full-air respirator for up to four hours at a time and be able to follow Thorne Research’s Respiratory Protection Program guidelines.
- Must be able to work in a damp wet environment, using various cleaning and sanitizing chemicals using proper PPE.
- Must be able to work in a stationary position as well as move about unassisted.
- Must be able to safely and carefully operate and use assigned production equipment and machinery.
- Must be able to repeatedly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as circumstances arise during the course of a shift.
- Must be able to operate, activate, use, prepare, and clean production equipment, occasionally grasping with force and using twisting wrist movements.
- Must have sufficient range of motion with arms and hands to reach overhead and to the side, often repetitively
- Must be able to hear and converse with supervisors and other employees.
- Must be able to see and read small print and small details on equipment.
- Must be able to work in a moderate noise level environment with or without hearing protection as required.
- Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 55 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, often repetitively, And lift heavier items with assistance.
