Assistant Project Engineer

Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer to work on a 1-year contract for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.Location: Burnaby, BC | Hybrid Overview: The successful candidate support various stations and dam safety projects and will work under the supervision or guidance of a project engineer.Responsibilities:Manage low to medium-complexity portions of the work through planning, design, and construction.Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal staff, consultants, contractors, other utilities, and vendors to provide high-value, effective solutions.Assist in conducting engineering due diligence checks, as required.Support the development of cost estimates, schedules, scopes of work, business cases, risk registers, procurement strategies, design plans, quality plans, and hazard logs in the early stages of projects.Research and draft documentation on project issues with input from the Project Engineer.Participate in reviewing work-in-progress by assigned staff, consultants, contractors, and vendors, and provide weekly and monthly progress reports.Coordinate the review of project engineering documentation and submittals.Assist in resolving project issues to maintain continuity of work for short periods if the Project Engineer is unavailable.Act as a project engineer for low-complexity projects.Assist in issuing Issued for Construction and Issued for Record drawings.Requirements: Must have a P.Eng designation and obtain a Permit to Practice upon offer 4+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalentUniversity graduate from an engineering or applied science programExperience managing low to medium-complexity engineering work, and working knowledge of project management principles and roles related to such engineering workExperience in electric utility engineering, such as generation stations, substations, or hydro Dams is an assetFor more current job opportunities, Follow MatchBox at linkedin.com/company/matchbox-recruitment/ _________________________ About MatchBoxHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is one of the leading recruitment and solutions firms that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
