Assistant Project Manager

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support construction projects in North America. This person will work in the office at our Sacramento location.


What you'll do:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Construction, assist Project Manager with projects that are under construction.
  • Collaborate with the project management team for the successful execution of construction projects for the Company.
  • Develop full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.
  • Work with Project Manager to prepare, administer, and process subcontracts.
  • Support subcontractor relations including: scheduling, subcontract management, communications, job reporting and compliance.
  • Utilize construction related software or other related software to manage budgets, schedules & project documentation.
  • Assist Project Manager in building accurate budgets and maintaining budgets through the course of construction. Work on concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
  • Assist Project Manager to review site evaluations prepared in Pre-Construction and schedule a site visit to become familiar with the project and verify findings of the initial site evaluation.
  • Assist Project Manager with verifying budget established during Pre-Construction matches the scope and project design in the Issued-for-Construction (IFC) drawings.
  • Input detailed bid analysis into project budgets. Manage project budgets.
  • Negotiate all subcontractor agreements and all material purchases that are required after Pre-Construction turnover. Have knowledge of standard contracting practices and the ability to understand, write and negotiate standard contract .
  • Prepare, monitor and report monthly budget variances and forecast ultimate costs of the project(s) at all times.
  • Manage effective document control mechanisms for the project to ensure that work is performed in accordance with contract documents.
  • Manage project documentation including cataloging photos, construction documents, project notes, equipment specifications and other relevant project information.
  • Ensure Daily reports are completed daily and accurately
  • Hold and/or attend weekly construction meetings with clients by phone and or in person.
  • Assist in the effective management of customer experience and interaction from contract execution to asset management.

What you'll bring:

  • A degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Civil Engineering is
  • Three (3+) plus years of construction project management experience, preferably in renewable energy projects, is required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including blueprints, soils reports, environmental reports, municipal documents, operating and procedural manuals, and safety documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to interact/communicate effectively in a professional and pleasant manner with Company's customers, vendors, affiliates, stakeholders, owners, management, and employees.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and review work for quality and production standards
  • Must be highly motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work both with a team and independently
  • Must excel in customer service and data analysis
  • Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Must excel with multi-tasking, problem-solving, written, and communication skills
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Maintain a valid Drivers License and a good driving record
