Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are currently working on behalf of a prestigious and highly reputable client to recruit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to advance their career. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic cost management team, where you’ll be involved in delivering landmark projects across the country. Based in Manchester, you’ll have the chance to contribute to a range of high-value projects, with values ranging from £20m to over £600m.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in the day-to-day delivery of diverse projects across multiple sectors

* Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors

* Support the preparation of cost estimates and evaluation of building designs and alternative proposals

* Assist in the preparation, issue, evaluation, and reporting of tenders

* Actively participate in client and contractor meetings

* Advise on contract terms and assist with the preparation of building contract documentation

* Contribute to the agreement of monthly valuations and preparation of monthly cost reports

* Assist in valuing and agreeing post-contract variations, as well as preparing and agreeing final accounts

* Build the skills needed to take full responsibility for the delivery of projects as the main point of contact

What We’re Looking For:

* A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar RICS-accredited course

* Working towards MRICS status or eager to start the process

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; experience with relevant QS software (such as CostX or Bluebeam) is desirable

* Strong communication skills and experience in report writing

* A proactive, outgoing, and personable team player with commercial awareness

* Ambition and a strong desire to learn and grow, along with the ability to meet project deadlines
