The Company\n\nA market-leading Principal Contractor who completes projects for major blue chip retail clients are looking to add to their Commercial team. This business has over 25 years' of experience within the industry delivering high quality fittings and bespoke projects across the retail sector.\n\nThe Role\n\nAssistant Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering refit and refurbishment packages on retail projects nationwide ranging in value (£50k - £1m). \n\nExperience, Knowledge & Qualifications \n\nAs the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you must possess the following; \n\n3+ years' experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor or a Fit-Out Contractor\nStrong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT\nPreferred background in fit out or commercial construction\nKnowledge of refit and refurbishment projects with values ranging between £50k - £1m\nGood communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations\nWell organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works\nCommercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of partiesDuties \n\nReporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor\nSubmission of interim payment applications\nPreparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports / Project cost control\nAssisting with all commercial aspects of allocated projects\nPreparation and submission of interim valuations\nManage and value variations\nAttend meetings for the agreement of final accounts\nPost contract liaison with clients\nSub-contract negotiation and letting\nJoint responsibility of managing contract costs including payments to sub-contractors\nAssist with the management of contractual documentation and letters / Understanding of sub-contracts\nPlacing sub-contract ordersThis is a Permanent position with a competitive salary (£30,000 - £40,000 + Package) on offer for the successful candidate.
