Assistant Research Engineer, Laboratory Officer (MCF, AFST), SIMTech

ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for an energetic and motivated assistant research engineer / laboratory officer to join our team. In this role, you?ll play an important role in supporting the development of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, to help companies innovate and grow. If you are passionate about laboratory work, engineering, process development, advanced manufacturing, materials and processes, testing and quality evaluation, this could be the role for you! JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide technical and administrative support, as well as conduct experiments to support the development of novel powder-based manufacturing processes for high performance metal, ceramic and composite products.
  • Conduct sample preparation and data acquisition for material characterization (e.g. microstructure and properties) for process optimization and product function demonstration.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, as well as the laboratory as a whole.
  • Perform administrative duties (e.g. purchasing) as required.
  • JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Diploma holder, preferably with Materials or Mechanical Engineering background. 
  • Basic understanding of powder metallurgy or materials processing and characterization.
  • Interest in hands-on lab-based work.
  • Some of the technical skills we are looking for: Familiarity with CAD software. Some of the soft skills we are looking for:

  • Team player with the ability to work effectively and independently within the team.
  • Self-driven and proactive, demonstrating ability to think critically and a problem-solving oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in the communication and interaction with team. Attention to detail.
  • Keen interest and ability to learn and adapt to new equipment and technologies, to remain up-to-date and relevant.
