Associate Civil Engineer (Aviation)\n\nBirmingham\n\n£70k-£80k plus benefits\n\nA global engineering firm is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer specializing in Aviation to join its industry-leading aviation infrastructure team.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to advance your career as an Associate in a well-established team. The role involves managing the design team and working closely with other associates, including those in the Airfield Ground Lighting team. You will also liaise with various aviation architectural and building services teams, as well as interface with both airport and contractor clients.

The position is client-facing, where you will act as a key point of contact on a daily basis.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCollaborate with other associates, particularly in the Airfield Ground Lighting team.\nCoordinate with aviation architectural and building services teams.\nServe as the main point of contact for airport and contractor clients.\nProduce design programmes, reports, and specifications while monitoring progress.\nManage multiple concurrent projects.\nAssist with proposals, tender submissions, and project interviews. \n\nAbout You:\n\nTo be successful in this role, you should have substantial experience in the following areas:\n\nCivil engineering and pavement (airfield/highway) design.\nKnowledge of airfield infrastructure design and working in a live airport environment.\nProject management experience, particularly in managing multiple projects and design disciplines.\nAn understanding of commercial and buildability requirements.\nExperience in managing a design team, including engineers and technicians (CAD).\nCivil 3D experience/knowledge.\nFamiliarity with construction materials used in airfield infrastructure and drainage design.\nExperience working in a Design and Build environment. \n\nDesirable Qualifications and Experience:\n\nChartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and substantial design experience.\nExperience in aviation infrastructure design, using CAP 168, EASA, ICAO, and military standards.\nUnderstanding of airside operations and airport functioning.\nPavement design expertise, using DMG27, FAA design standards, or FAARFIELD.\nKnowledge of Airfield Ground Lighting and other airport infrastructure services.\nAbility to contribute to proposals, tender submissions, and project interviews.\nFamiliarity with contracts, such as the NEC suite, and the preparation of tender documents.\nExperience in mentoring team members.
