Jacobs is seeking an experienced Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our ground engineering team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Section Leader of Tunnel and Ground Engineering (TGE), this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major Transport, Water, and Power projects while fostering a culture of inclusivity and care. As an Associate Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in analysing and assessing soil and rock properties to determine their behaviour under various conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing foundations for structures, evaluating slope stability, and providing solutions for complex ground-related challenges. You'll be involved in all stages of projects, from initial site investigations to final design and construction support. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and leading field investigations, interpreting geotechnical data, performing advanced soil and rock mechanics analyses, detailed design and reporting. You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, structural engineers, hydrologists, and environmental specialists, to ensure comprehensive and innovative solutions for our clients. In this position, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, such as highways, bridges, slope assessments, deep excavations, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques. Your expertise in geotechnical software and your ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical engineering problems will be highly valued. As a senior member of the team, you'll also play a vital role in mentoring junior staff, sharing your knowledge and experience to nurture the next generation of geotechnical engineers.
