Associate Technical Director - Power Systems

With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.  Role description:  Bring your expertise and enthusiasm to a dynamic team where you will:  Innovate and Excel: Deliver high-quality power systems study projects, driving technical excellence in both static and dynamic analyses.  Lead and Inspire: Develop and share your knowledge through internal training, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.  Build and Collaborate: Lead teams, coordinate interdisciplinary projects, and ensure exceptional outcomes that exceed client expectations.  Role accountabilities:  Engineering Excellence: Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables, including reports, proposals, and presentations.  Advanced Analysis: Conduct load flow, short circuit, arc flash studies, and power system transient studies, including GPS, switching transients, and motor starting.  Technical Leadership: Provide oversight on detailed engineering documentation, ensuring compliance with international and Australian standards.  Project Management: Manage tasks to meet budget, quality, and timeframe targets, driving re-engineering strategies to enhance profitability.  Mentorship and Development: Develop the technical skills of junior engineers, fostering an environment of growth and expertise.  Qualifications & Experience:  Proven experience in power systems study projects, with a focus on leadership and strategic innovation.  Deep familiarity with Australian codes and standards.  Expertise in software such as ETAP, SKM PTW, PSSE, DigSilent PowerFactory, EMTP-RV, PSCAD, or similar.  Significant experience with EMT (transient) studies and insulation coordination.  Knowledge of renewable energy projects including BESS, pumped hydro, hydrogen, generators, and turbines.  Professional registration with Engineers Australia or similar is preferred.  Strong leadership, client engagement, and commercial acumen.  Highly Regarded Skills for All Roles:  Understanding of the Australian electricity market and renewable energy.  Computational design, automation skills, and proficiency in Python scripting for power system studies.  Experience in renewable energy projects (solar, wind).  Why Arcadis?
