Title: Automation Control Engineer
Location: Hoffman Estates, IL
Classification: Exempt
Travel: 30%
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $130,000.00 Annually

Position Overview:
This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting machine tending automation solutions, including robotics, gantry systems, pallet pools, and other flexible manufacturing technologies. The ideal candidate is open-minded, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and develop automation system cell controllers for machine tending.
  
• Interface automation equipment, such as CNC machines, robots, washers, gauges/CMMs, and markers.
  
• Perform electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and setup of various automation peripherals.
  
• Program PLC/HMI systems (preferably Allen-Bradley), robots (Fanuc), and vision systems (iRvision or Cognex).
  
• Conduct automation cell runoff at both the factory and customer sites.
  
• Prepare detailed design specifications and documentation.
  
• Provide customer training and technical support.
  
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
  

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering.
  
• Familiarity with manufacturing automation and industrial robotic systems.
  
• Strong capabilities in electrical design, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  
• Proficiency in PLC/HMI/Robot/Vision programming.
  
• Mechanical assembly and electrical troubleshooting expertise.
  
• Knowledge of major industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.).
  
• Familiarity with safety circuits and safety relay/controller configurations.
  
• Ability to learn new automation technologies.
  
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to read and write technical documents.
