Job Title: Automation Engineer
Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 per annum
Hours: 42 hours per week, 4-on, 4-off shift pattern
Location: South London
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on position that plays a critical role in maintaining, programming, and optimising automated systems to support production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Robot Programming and Setup:
Program, set up, and troubleshoot robots, including 6-axis FANUC and Wittmann systems, ensuring optimal performance and integration with manufacturing processes.
PLC Systems Expertise:
Work with, maintain and programme PLC systems, with a preference for experience in Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
Diagnose and rectify PLC-related issues to ensure seamless operation of automation equipment.
Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of automated systems to minimise downtime and prolong the life of equipment.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve production processes through automation enhancements and implement necessary adjustments.
Support Production:
Provide technical support to production teams to address any automation issues or breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of automation programming, changes, maintenance schedules, and modifications to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in Manufacturing:
Proven track record working in a manufacturing environment is essential.
Robotics Expertise:
In-depth experience with 6-axis FANUC and Wittmann robots, including programming, setup, and troubleshooting.
PLC Knowledge:
Understanding of PLC systems, particularly Allen-Bradley and Siemens, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Analytical mindset with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex technical problems.
Technical Aptitude:
Strong hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality work.
Adaptability:
Ability to work efficiently in a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern and adapt to the dynamic needs of a busy manufacturing facility.
