Automation Project Engineer

We are looking for a motivated Automation Project Engineer who can support projects from beginning to end. Specifically, to assess, track and monitor projects from cradle to grave and to ensure increased demand and marketability with the possibility of enhancement.
Purpose: Focus on project delivery for clients while driving productivity and the need to maintain project quality; responsible for cost, schedule, and quality capital project deliverables.
Project Engineering Duties:
· Experience managing technical effort automation.
· Oversee a team of engineers and technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
· Coordinate with Senior Technical Operations Manager to delegate work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
· Track project metrics, financials and deliverables.
· Contribute to internal process management review and standard development.
· Assist in management validation activities such as CSV, SAT, FAT and IQ/OQ and PQ.
Technical Engineering Duties:
· Support design efforts and develop control schemes.
· Support in-field troubleshooting, process start-ups for new or modified production equipment.
· Expertise with PLC architecture design, programming, testing, and validation.
· Support clients through development processes.
· Author and review FRS and SDS documents.
· Follow established procedures, and design guidelines.
· Contribute to the development of electrical and I&C wiring drawings, cabinet layouts and network diagrams.
· Apply knowledge of electrical, fluid dynamics, and mechanical concepts.
· Support start-ups and assist in commissioning and qualification of utility and production equipment.
· Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, mechanical and control design documents.
· Interact with clients, maintenance, engineering, and OEM vendor staff to assist in developing scope requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Function as either internal or on-site project engineer for major investment projects from design through turnover.
· Outline tasks involved in projects and delegate accordingly.
· Manage procurement activities and schedule resource mobilization.
· Collaborate with design group to change plans if problems arise.
· Analyze equipment, systems, processes, and systems to identify modifications.
· Support cost analysis, estimating expected costs for projects.
· Prepare and implement a budget based on estimates.
· Support project controls activities.
· Conduct risk assessments; report identified risks to management; provide recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
· Address questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout project life cycle.
· Liaison between company, customers, and vendors.to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
· Prepare periodic progress and cost reports for leadership.
· Communicate and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.
Qualifications:
· 4-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field required.
· Minimum 2 years of demonstrated project engineering or management experience.
· Minimum 5+ years’ work experience in an industrial environment.
· Understanding of automation technologies is necessary.
· Design or programming technical background.
· Field installation and start-up experience is a must.
· Understanding of process utilities, HVAC and manufacturing is a plus.

· Ability to plan, engineer and execute from start to finish, with minimal supervision.
· Experience implementing projects in a controlled manufacturing environment.

· Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.
· Proficient with Microsoft Project or related software.
· Interpretation and development of P&ID.
· Platform experience with Siemens TIA Portal.
· Platform experience with Rockwell Automation HMI software, e.g., RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition, Factory Talk View, etc., highly preferred.
· Knowledge of manufacturing and process equipment.
· Capacity to handle multiple tasks, have excellent attention to detail and be willing and able to learn new technologies quickly.
· Experience performing electrical maintenance on industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) experience (D3, Delta V) strongly preferred.
· GMP documentation knowledge a plus.
· Prior military experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· May require constant standing and moving 8-12 hours per day.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and kneel.
· Must be able to push and pull up to 15 lbs.
· Must be able to reach overhead.
