Qualified candidates must have demonstrable skills in taking a controls project from concept through startup, including design, integration, field installation, and completion. This is an on-site support position; plant operational experience is a must.
Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation & Control Systems Engineer with extensive experience in process control systems, instrumentation, industrial automation, and cybersecurity. This role requires deep knowledge of DCS platforms (DeltaV, Syncade MES, and PI ), industrial network protocols (Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus, OPC), and smart instrumentation. Duties:
Lead system startup and automation applications. Additional duties may include the following:
- Lead control system design, integration, commissioning, and startup for large-scale industrial automation projects.
- Execute DCS, Historian and MES system configuration, testing, and validation (DeltaV, Syncade, PI).
- Provide technical expertise in industrial networking and cybersecurity, including system hardening, Active Directory integration, domain policies, and security compliance.
- Troubleshoot and optimize instrumentation and control systems to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Develop and implement automation strategies for pharmaceutical, biotech, and oil & gas industries.
- Author and review User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS), and Software Design Specifications (SDS).
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Commissioning & Qualification (CQV) activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, OEM vendors, and engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts, including GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and ISA-88 batch control.
- Lead or contribute to cybersecurity initiatives, including network segmentation, vulnerability assessments, and compliance with industry cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications:

4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or a related technical field required.

Knowledge of Batch Automation (ISA-88), SFC, structured text programming, and PLC logic.

Experience in virtualized control systems and cloud-based industrial automation solutions.

Excellent written and verbal skills required.

Equipment experience: Upstream: Large Scale Bioreactors, Downstream: Chromatography, Ultrafiltration, Media Preparation.

Basic understanding of business systems and networking/ethernet communication.

Industry experience in regulated industries such as chemical processing, F&B, and biopharma.

Proven field startup experience.

Field installation and startup experience is a must.

Strong electrical background a must.

Professional demeanor and communication skills are a must.

GMP documentation knowledge is a plus

Former or current military reservist is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
-
Piping & Instrumentation (P&ID) interpretation.

Proficient at Control System Design.
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, GMP environments, and biotech process control is a must.
- Military experience or background in structured, high-risk environments is a plus.

Ability to plan, engineer, and execte from start to finish.

Platform experience with DeltaV DCS, Syncade MES.

Platform experience with Siemens TIA Portal v14/v15.

Platform experience with Rockwell Automation software, e.g., RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition, Factory Talk View, etc., highly .

Understanding of business systems and networking/ethernet communication.

Knowledge of manufacturing and process equipment.

Ability to lead team of other mid-level and junior developers in executing projects.

Ability to review project scopes and perform task breakdowns and estimation.

Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.

Capacity to handle multiple tasks, have excellent attention to detail, and be willing and able to learn new technologies quickly.

Experience performing electrical maintenance on industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of electrical safety standards.

Interested in pursuing project management responsibilities.
