BAS Controls Technician

Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of new and expanded building automation systems. Reviews engineered documentation of system design and sequences of operation to verify compliance with specifications and/or Conexus engineering standards. Communicates any design issues discovered in commissioning process to engineering in a timely manner to ensure compliance with design specifications. Troubleshoots possible issues including identifying and debugging software, and any hardware related problems. Keep up to date with current product updates of all product lines that Conexus represents.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and application support for Distech and Tridium product lines as well as Ethernet, BACnet, and LON networks.
  • Help develop and verify non-standard design and custom solutions from standard products.
  • Provide external training on BAS networks and systems with customers as required.
  • May be required to perform system commissioning including loading software programs and implementing modifications as necessary.
  • Evaluate field conditions as required and recommend design modifications to eliminate omissions, oversights or design inaccuracies.
  • Modify sequences of operation and create or modify graphics, as required, to support completion of project. Be able to be handed a job and handle all aspects of it from start to finish including-Programming, Commissioning, Graphics, Balancing Assistance etc.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers: establish and maintain relationships. Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years related experience and /or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in related discipline.
  • Factory training in Tridium Niagara Ax/N4 not required, but .
  • Experience in BAS systems and sequences of operation including Ethernet, BACnet, and LON networks.
  • Possess the ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans and contract requirements.
  • Have, or develop, understanding of typical HVAC systems such as hot water and steam boiler systems, chilled water systems using air cooled chillers, water cooled chillers, tower/boiler heat pump systems, air handlers, and VAV box systems.
  • Experience with PC's in windows environments, web-enabled applications and database software. Advanced competency in computer networking client/server environments is a plus.

  • The vast majority of our projects are prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon, so the full compensation associated with this position can be more than the base salary and prevailing wage/Davis-Bacon fringes are paid as 401(k) contributions, which is an additional benefit on top of the base salary. Last year, our technicians earned and average of $20,000 in 401(k) contributions through prevailing wage work.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public. Ability to create documents requesting clarifications or information in a concise and legible manner.

Personal Attributes: Must enjoy working in a structured environment with clear expectations. Faster than average pace of work and quality cannot be compromised. Enjoy working in a team environment; and be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision. Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging goals. Must be able to travel for training or job required support as necessary and maintain a current Pennsylvania Drivers License

Must be able to work away from home for extended periods of time if the situation arises. Some of our current customers and new customers we are pursuing are out of our normal areas. Per Diem and hotel stays are cover by Conexus Inc.
