We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Battery Test Lab Manager to join our team! Utilizing novel materials and cell designs, the Company has developed a revolutionary silicon anode that enables high-capacity silicon batteries to enter mainstream markets. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing lithium-ion battery cell cycling and test equipment from manufacturers such as Neware and Arbin.
  • Maintain scientific analytical equipment such as BET, TGA, DSC and FTIR to ensure calibration and proper operation.
  • Specify, install, and optimize new equipment for prototype cell testing as required to support company objectives.
  • Design, develop, and implement mechanical and electrical test fixtures for battery component and cell level evaluations.
  • Hands-on ownership of test equipment to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and use.
  • Incorporate safety reviews of tests and procedures prior to implementation.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent use of test equipment and processes by our clients staff.
  • Lead electrical and mechanical test equipment troubleshooting using structured root cause analysis techniques.
  • Define and implement preventative maintenance schedules for our clients test and analytical equipment.
  • Manage test channel utilization and drive planning and scheduling of new tests with our clients Research and Product development teams.
  • Support Taguchi Methodology to develop and execute structured design of experiments to guide technology development and decision making.
  • Work with the Companys software team to support, maintain, and improve the current automation of data acquisition, analyses and analytics into a streamlined reporting format for in-house and customer deliverables.
  • Analyze and report battery cell performance and cycle life trends in weekly technical forum including broader Research and Product Development teams.
  • Develop and publish tools, templates, and analytical models as needed to support efficient, consistent, and high-quality data representation (in collaboration with subject matter experts).
  • Develop procedures for HALT (highly accelerated life testing) of our clients battery cells.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors to design, install, integrate, and validate test and analytical equipment.
  • Incorporate risk management and safety features into process designs and methods.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5 years working experience in a lithium-ion battery or electrochemical product development company.
  • Hands-on, self-starter with highly detail-oriented approach to engineering work
  • Practical experience with battery testing equipment including specification, setup, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Practical experience with data acquisition, thermocouples, thermal characterization, and physical handing of lithium-ion battery cells.
  • Prior experience in statistical process control, reliability engineering and quality is a plus.
  • Experience in product validation, test method creation and statistical analysis a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and positive working attitude.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Motivated and driven to solve problems and continually improve processes.
  • Experience with automotive, military or aviation test standards a plus.

Hours:

  • Full Time - 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
