Bilingual Safety Coordinator

M. J. Sheridan of Texas, Inc. is looking to add to its team a Safety Coordinator for our Houston office. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for auditing and enforcing safety rules and procedures in field operations. The safety coordinator is also responsible for evaluating and monitoring safe driver guidelines. This role does travel on company vehicle to multiple job sites around Houston and surrounding areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs safety inspections and completes quality control audits on job sites and completes and submits required documentation of the audit via I-Auditor
• Conducts investigations of field accidents, injuries and damages and produces detailed reports, documentation and photographs in a timely manner
• Assists with field evaluations for all required OQ training modules.
• Assists in evaluating new drivers and ongoing defensive driver training
• Inventories, calibrates and repairs all Four Gas Monitors and CGI equipment and tracks crew assignment and repair needs
• Liaison with Human Resources regarding Workers Compensation injuries, employee restrictions and return to work processes
• Manages First Aid Program and inventory of supplies on hand
• Administrates First Aid as needed and follows up on injuries
• Manages and schedules clinic visits for injured workers
• Liaison with clinic regarding injuries
• Assists in training

Qualifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of principles and methods of Safety Training, teaching and instructing individuals and groups
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective safety operations for the protection of our employees and the public.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English and Spanish including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, and ability to translate to and from each .
• First Aid /CPR Knowledge

Requirements and Competencies:

• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly so that others will comprehend and understand.
• Fluent in Spanish and English Verbal, and Written is required.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Knowledge of Windows based computer and Microsoft Office programs
• Maturity to lead by example, tactfully and respectfully
• Valid Driving License required
• Ability to drive a truck and trailer

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma with some secondary schooling or equivalent experience.
• 2 – 3 years experience in related construction field Safety
• OSHA trained for Construction Environment, OSHA 10 , OSHA 30
