The Organisation: Cala Consulting has partnered with a successful Northern Irish full-service MEP design consultancy to identify an experienced Building Services Engineer to head up their new London office. The company works on a diverse range of MEP Consultancy projects throughout the UK and Ireland, including residential, commercial, hotels and retail. With the growing portfolio in the London area now accounting for approximately 50% of the workload, the company are focused on establishing a physical presence in London.
The Opportunity: This is a unique chance for an experienced Building Services Engineer to join a well-established and highly successful consultancy practice with a robust pipeline of work. Over the past decade, the London projects have been managed from our Northern Ireland offices. We are now seeking a seasoned professional with 10+ years experience to be the first London-based employee, drive the business forward and become an equity Director within 2-3 years.
The Vision:
* Work closely with current clients, staff and on a range of projects.
* Attend London project meetings, represent the company, engage in high-level strategy discussions with clients and the design team and carry out site inspections of ongoing projects.
* Focus on securing new business in Year 2, building a case for expanding the team and establishing a new company, with you as an equity partner.
* Potential to establish a new company which leverages the group’s backend systems, such as Finance, IT, HR, along with financial backing, to support the startup phase until profitability is achieved.
Key Skills and Experience:
* A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Building Services Engineer, specializing in large-scale commercial buildings such as offices, residential schemes, PBSA, and hotels.
* Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Building Services, including outside your specialism.
* Awareness of current and upcoming regulations and standards.
* Commercial acumen with an understanding of the economics of property development and construction.
* Excellent communication skills, able to engage with all stakeholders, from site teams to legal and finance teams.
* Preparedness to lead tasks necessary for starting a new venture, including hiring and developing staff, pursuing new work leads, and fostering client relationships.
