Job Title: Business Development Manager (Low Carbon / Decarbonization / Heat Pump / Solar PV)

Location: Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire

Salary: £70k plus car and bonus

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Manager with expertise in low carbon technologies and energy efficiency solutions, including heat pumps and solar PV. This role involves driving business growth through the development and contracting of domestic energy efficiency solutions that align with the UK’s net zero ambition. The successful candidate will execute detailed sales strategies, lead projects from inception to contract completion, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver commercially viable and innovative energy solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and secure contracts for domestic energy efficiency solutions, ensuring long-term business value.
  • Execute a comprehensive sales strategy, maintaining a clear pipeline with forecasted revenue to support business growth.
  • Lead new projects from identification to contract completion, leveraging expertise from internal teams to meet business targets.
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to executive-level stakeholders, offering commercially viable propositions.
  • Manage and influence external stakeholders to secure support, generate revenue, and deliver business value.
  • Advise clients on propositions, funding, and delivery, working with Pre-Contract and Delivery teams to create cost-effective business solutions.
  • Negotiate and maximize contract value, ensuring profitable project delivery.
  • Identify and capitalize on added value opportunities across businesses, including ECO Delivery, SMART, District Heating, and Generation.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance opportunities and minimize risks.

 

What We Need From You:

Essential:

  • Proven experience securing multiple £m contracts for energy efficiency programs, ideally in a contractor or energy efficiency-related setting.
  • Strong track record of meeting and exceeding challenging sales targets across various channels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK energy efficiency and solutions marketplace, including current and future funding initiatives.
  • Experience in developing large-scale, complex programs with multiple work streams.
  • Familiarity with public sector projects, solutions, policies, and funding mechanisms in the domestic sector.
  • Extensive experience in commercial management across a broad portfolio of customers, products, services, and transactions.
  • Technical understanding of energy efficiency solutions and commercial applications within a contractor environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of current and future Government incentives aligned with the UK’s net zero goals.
  • Full understanding of standards and regulatory compliance within the sector.
  • Experience working with Energy Suppliers, Local Authorities, Social Landlords, or Devolved Government clientele.
  • Strong negotiating and contracting experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal legal, finance, and procurement teams.
