Job Description Summary Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, the Director of Business Development is responsible for executing the Business Development strategy by initiating customer outreach, preparing and leading customer workshops, and supporting overall Business development efforts which result in project opportunities for the Sales Team. Additionally, this role develops and administers the strategy and direction for the assigned team in alignment with the overall Kendall Group strategy. This is a commercial-centric role that works cross-functionally to identify, negotiate, and nurture business development opportunities that open new sales channels and drive top line revenue growth. A team of Business Development Managers will report to this position. The essential duties and responsibilities of this position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Responsible for the overall management, assessment, and development of a strategy to achieve the profit and volume objectives Lead a team of Business Development Managers who meet sales targets through telemarketing, web-based sales strategies, and new digital technologies Design and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve sales goals Secure meetings with potential customers, pitch new opportunities, negotiate terms, and win new business Oversee and project manage all updates to channel sales presentations, research prospect strategies and qualifying leads resulting in exploratory discussions on our services/products for sales opportunities Lead, train, coach, mentor, and monitor the performance of Business Development Managers Motivate staff members to give maximum output and ensure cooperation within all areas and divisions of the company Create measurable processes to drive sustained growth, including: Creation and prioritization of quarterly initiatives Research into organizations and individuals for new opportunities Develop industry-focused initiatives for effective prospecting Generate new leads, identify and contact decision-makers Provide input to executive staff on current market conditions, significant opportunities for growth, and changing customer dynamics Provide leadership in personnel-related functions such as recruiting, hiring, evaluation, training, discipline, and termination Manage the daily operations and activities of the department, being responsible for delivering all business development services to the organization Support regional sales team/office Maintain and document customer relationship progress in the CRM Perform other duties as assigned Competencies: Excellent Customer Service Skills Customer Focus Managerial Courage Results, Action Oriented Planning Strategic Thinking Inspiring & Motivating Others Requirements: Work Experience: Five years’ experience in sales, business development or wholesale distribution; three years’ experience managing and directing a sales/business development department Education: BS or BA or related field or equivalent experience Computer Skills: Experience working with MS Office Organization Skills: Excellent organizational, ability to multi-tasking and shift priorities as needed Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service Communication Skills: Ability to communication well with all levels of the organization; excellent negotiating skills; excellent presentation skills to influence all levels of the organization effectively, strong interpersonal and customer service skills; high degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information Leadership: Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
