Job Description
Are you an automotive expert with a passion for driving innovation and delivering impactful results? We’re seeking a Business Development Manager to lead strategic client engagement and develop large-scale R&D and capital projects that drive UK investments and economic growth.
In this dynamic and hybrid role, you’ll support the UK Automotive Sector's transition to Net Zero and growth in Connected & Automated Mobility (CAM) by working with government funding programs and fostering collaborative partnerships across the industry.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Strategic Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain partnerships with UK and global industrial organisations to exceed funding and investment objectives.
- Collaborate across the funding landscape and all levels of the automotive supply chain to accelerate strategic and economic impacts.
- Identify, engage, and onboard UK and overseas companies for R&D and manufacturing investments.
Business Development & Project Delivery:
- Respond to client enquiries and referrals to develop successful grant applications and strengthen the UK funding ecosystem.
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities, ensuring effective follow-up on client interactions through CRM systems.
- Attend conferences, trade shows, and events, representing the organisation and participating in speaking engagements as required.
Data-Driven Insights & Reporting:
- Track KPIs, metrics, and dashboards to monitor performance against targets.
- Conduct market analysis and maintain detailed reports on target clients by technology group (e.g., Batteries, Engines, CAM, and more).
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams (Executive, Technology Trends, Project Delivery, and Stakeholder Engagement) to align business development strategies with organisational goals.
- Coordinate external messaging with the Stakeholder Engagement Team to ensure consistent and effective communication.
What We’re Looking For:
- Industry Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector.
- Strategic Thinker: Proven ability to drive partnerships, develop pipelines, and achieve investment and funding goals.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills with experience presenting at events, trade shows, or conferences.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to track and report KPIs, maintain CRM systems (e.g., MS Dynamics), and conduct market analysis.
- Team Player: Comfortable working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Results-Driven: Experience in delivering successful grant applications and achieving tangible business impacts.
