Business Development Manager - Innovation & Scale Up

Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Business Development Manager to drive sales and increase engagement across our unique assets. Positioning our members and new clients at the centre of what we do, this individual will not only spearhead the monetisation of our products but also identify new avenues to enhance our revenue streams. Joining an entrepreneurial team this is a fantastic opportunity that will also benefit from hybrid working remotely and across multiple sites globally.

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to generate and engage with business partners to build new business for the company. This candidate will be focused and have strong communication skills. They should be able to think critically when making plans and have a demonstrated ability to execute a particular strategy. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Member Sales: Identify opportunities to cross-sell products that naturally complement members' needs, previous purchases or interactions.
  • Strategic Development: Identify, develop, and execute strategies to optimise NEXUS's offerings and to diversify revenue streams.
  • New business: Actively seeking out potential new members to join NEXUS.
  • Sales: Drive sales for our 8-week NEXUS ESG Start Up Programme, catering both to members and non-members.
  • CRM Implementation: Oversee the selection and roll-out of a robust CRM platform, ensuring its optimisation for tracking and supporting member opportunities.
  • Podcast Monetisation: Secure sponsorships for the NEXUS Talks podcast and transition the series into a live public-facing event.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with potential investors, members, partners and PR.
  • Program Management: Oversee the successful delivery and continuous improvement of our ESG Start Up Programme, based on participant feedback and market trends.
  • Reporting: Provide regular sales and performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Targets: Contribute to setting and meet sales targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 4 years' proven experience in business development, preferably in a related sector.
  • Focused and goal-oriented
  • Demonstrated history of managing or being intricately involved in programmes similar to our ESG Start Up Programme.
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems and their implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of presentation packages e.g. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Ability to produce clear reports and presentations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate integrity, dependability, responsibility, accountability, self-awareness, work ethic, and empathy.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Socially confident with excellent organisational skills.
  • Innovative thinker with an ability to spot new business opportunities.
  • Takes ownership and proposes solutions.
  • Willingness to get stuck in and a can-do attitude a must
  • A customer focused, creative and imaginative outlook
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead when necessary. Outgoing with a positive attitude and proactive approach; It is important that the BDM is able to have a positive outlook on the situations that are faced with and to always take pride in the quality of work produced.
  • The role holder will be given sales targets to achieve per annum where performance will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
  • MUST have Settled worker status.

Industry experience

Applicants with experience in the early-stage startup ecosystem are likely to fit the role better. The candidate may be from any of the following industry domains.

  • Incubators/accelerators
  • Angel Network Managers
  • Government/Corporate venture programs
  • Venture Capital/Family Fund Office
