Apart from the humanitarian challenges that the country faces as the host of refugees and asylum-seekers, food insecurity and undernutrition remain serious public health problems, which are driven by a range of factors including poverty, limited dietary diversity, poor sanitation and hygiene conditions, and gender inequality. WFP is working with the Government of Angola and a broad range of partners towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 (Zero Hunger) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENTReporting to the Logistics Officer or Head of Sub Office, the Business support assistant (SC 4) will ensure compliance of the Country Office’s processes/procedures of WFP’s Supply Chain. The Job holder will be expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance for all assistance modalities for both WFP and logistics common services. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES↵ Oversee the requisitioning and timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations, ensuring an efficient flow of goods Handle logistics vendors' contracting activities, including performance monitoring and evaluation, ensuring vendors meet contractual obligations and service standards. Manage the logistics invoicing process for country office operations. Verify and process invoice claims promptly, maintain the Invoice Tracking System (ITS), and ensure all steps and processes are followed. Collect market intelligence and conduct vendor assessments to support the vendor selection process. Address specialized queries and support requests by using initiative and standard processes to ensure timely and accurate resolutions with a client service mindset. Prepare, monitor, and revise budgets for all delivery methods, ensuring adherence to relevant procedures and corporate standards. Ensure swift processing of precommitments and purchase order closures. Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary. Support the oversight of commodity accounting data quality and integrity. Analyze the operational pipeline and contribute to assessments and planning for all delivery methods, ensuring that supply chain requirements are considered. Manage the processing of documentation required for logistics operations, such as customs clearance and invoice verification. Resolve operational issues and escalate complex issues to the supervisor when necessary. Conduct research, data collection, and analysis to produce accurate reports (e.g., CCTI, SPRs, financial closure, physical inventory, transport performance). Ensure the accuracy of information in corporate systems to facilitate informed decision-making. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management, ensuring effective service delivery. Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities, including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan updates, to aid in WFP's response during emergencies. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Head of Unit, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of logistics operations. STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable. Experience: Minimum 4 years progressive experience in logistics.
