WHAT WE NEED:

CAD Administrator

The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Administrator is responsible for assuring CAD systems meet the needs of design requirements within the technology ecosystem. The CAD Administrator utilizes software and technical knowledge to develop and maintain accurate and efficient standards, templates, and workflow solutions. The CAD Administrator assists end users with technical issues and queries in conjunction with ancillary tech groups. The CAD Administrator works to ensure continuous improvement in workflows, practices and principles in digital design. The position collaborates with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed components and equipment on project specifications, technical requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop customized design review presentations.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models of requested components per design requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, supporting information, and CAD templates ensuring accuracy and adherence to requirements and standards.
  • Customize and maintain client driven Plant 3D project templates.
  • Develop customized Navisworks client presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integration of overall project design.
  • Assist designers with questions and issues involving software.
  • Create production software training and provide training for designers.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety practices, such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Standards Institute (ANSI), Process Industry Piping (PIP), Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards through software customization and administration.
  • Review standards and templates for accuracy, completeness, and quality. Perform standard and template reviews to identify potential issues and propose improvements.
  • Create CAD best practices and workflows for design disciplines.
  • Test production software and production hardware.
  • Provide technical support to project teams through project design lifecycle.
  • Assist Information Technology with software and creating/testing production PC images.
  • Assist with software integration between departments.
  • Assist users with questions and issues involving software.
  • Create and provide production software training.
  • Maintain software training documentation.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to digital design. Continuously improving design processes and workflows.


WHO WE NEED:

  • An associate degree or diploma in design, engineering technology, drafting, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software, technology ecosystems, needs of end users, and evaluation of production workflows in engineering and design principles.
  • Proven experience as a Designer or similar role, preferably in a consulting or engineering firm.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Advance Steel or similar tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work in a team environment.
