ABOUT THE POSITION
CAD Design Manager – Civil 3D | Hybrid | Manasquan, NJ
VHB’s growing Northeast region is seeking a CAD Design Manager to join our civil team with strong experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex multi-disciplinary projects for major institutional, industrial, and real estate clients along with local and state government and play an important role in expanding and shaping the civil engineering team.
Responsibilities
Mentors and trains CAD Designers and Engineers in the use of Civil3D
Manages design criteria for projects requiring the application of advanced engineering principles, material properties, and construction, installation, and maintenance procedures
Develops engineering drawings, conceptual plans, and exhibits for a variety of projects ranging in size and complexity
Plans, research, and produces contract drawings based on constraints defined by the project engineer, review agencies, and client needs
Designs utility systems based on information, schematics, and calculations prepared by project engineers
Determines CAD usage and application on projects
Recognizes and resolves potential construction conflicts and difficulties identified during design
Estimates number of sheets and contract drawings as well as production time required for design manager’s review
Ensures overall consistency, quality, technical accuracy, and design on projects 3D visualizations and 3D modeling
Skills and Attributes
Effective written, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills produce high-quality deliverables in an efficient manner
Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
Motivated to lead and mentor others on CAD Civil 3D and drawing production procedures
Has a persistent initiative to continually learn new technical practices and to earn the confidence of clients, company management/colleagues, and regulators
Qualifications
Associates Degree
10+ years of advanced experience in CAD design in civil engineering environment required
Must be knowledgeable in basic construction practices for civil construction, be able to generate drawings for engineers, and make suggestions for further development
Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
