Job Summary
Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering. Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Checks drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards. Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation. May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage. Solves problems of minor to complex, subject to periodic adjustments which require a high degree of coordination and individual control. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. High level of communication with internal staff and clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Incorporates ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) and maintains files and archives ECOs.
- Creates new drawings from engineering input.
- Creates assembly drawings for engineers.
- Corrects CAD data for drawings.
- Creates and modifies circuit design.
- Provides engineering support for product documentation.
Other Essential Duties
- Work with technical staff to document product designs and product modifications.
- Prepare complex layout, detail, and assembly drawings, utilizing sketches and verbal instruction.
- Perform various calculations with respect to part fit and dimensional tolerancing.
- Propose design modifications to facilitate manufacturing and/or reduce costs.
- Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
- Prepare/maintain parts lists and various other records relevant to the project, during the development stage.
- Prepare modifications/revisions to existing documentation.
- Use computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDMPro, and other packages for much of the drafting/design activities.
- Perform all other duties requested, directed, or assigned.
- Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Education and/or Experience
Vocational or Technical Certificate, or college degree (Associates Degree) in related or specialized field; 15+ years of experience, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
- SolidWorks & 2D AutoCAD Design software;
- PDMPro Vault software;
- MS Excel Spreadsheet software and
- MS Word Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified SolidWorks Associate ( but not required).
Other Qualifications
- Intermediate skills in 3D solid Modeling/drafting using SolidWorks software
- Intermediate skills in 2D drafting using AutoCAD software
- Intermediate knowledge of conventional engineering drawing practices per ASME Y14 standards.
- Intermediate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
- Intermediate knowledge of machining operations and shop practices
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering documentation, technical specifications and drawings.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to support design, development, troubleshooting, and creation of products and systems.
- Ability to review, evaluate and analyze technical designs.
- Ability to prepare, review and evaluate technical documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures.
- Good English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP systems (preferably IFS), and drafting/modeling software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, PDMProetc.).
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Self-starter with ability to work and lead effectively with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of design and drafting with mechanical parts and systems, wire, harnesses, electrical systems, etc.
- Knowledge of documentation control requirements and best practices.
- Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100.

- U.S. Person for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data.
