GENERAL SUMMARY
Rely on expertise, knowledge, and technical qualifications to interpret written industry and customer standards, specifications, regulations, and site restrictions. Recommend or initiate direct actions required to meet and comply with all requirements. Identify issues related to the progress and quality of work performed by others and make decisions and recommendations required to satisfactorily address situations that involve staff of customers, contractors, and company employees both on and off the right-of-way.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain company’s quality control standards and enforce contract specifications, welding procedures, and qualifications.
- Assist the quality control staff with welding procedure problems.
- Maintain communication with contractor’s representative to enforce/ensure welding procedures are being met.
- Review the radiographic film results.
- Ensure the qualification of procedures will comply with specified requirements of the project and materials being used.
- Ensure that the welds being made uphold the highest quality in relation to codes, standards, and company specifications.
- Confirm the welder’s Identification/Stencil is properly placed adjacent to the weld in accordance with specifications.
- Make certain that all welding inspectors are qualified to all procedures accordingly.
- Ensure all rejected welds are repaired or replaced in accordance with the company specifications.
- Ensure the proper documentation to/from Material Transfer Records, As-Builds, Red Lines, Tie-Ins, Fabrication, etc.
- Advise Senior Welding Inspector of all decisions/problems/possible alternatives and provide Welding documentation reports.
- Notify the Senior Welding Inspector of environmental problems.
- Provide appropriate documentation for assigned activities and forward it to the Senior Welding Inspector for review.
- Advise Senior Welding Inspector of continuing work and required extra work by contractor.
- Abide by all Federal Regulations, Codes, OSHA Standards and DOT Compliances.
- Ensure all activities are performed in a safe and professional manner. Adhere to and enforce safety policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Successful completion of API 1104 ASME 31.8-31.4 welding tests/procedures.
- CWI certification.
- Qualified radiographic film interpreter.
- Knowledge of the Federal Regulations, Codes, OSHA Standards and DOT Compliances.
- Working knowledge of all pipeline welding codes and specifications; familiar with company contract specifications, applicable codes and standards, and the inspection equipment necessary to perform tasks.
- Previous quality control experience on construction projects, including transmission pipelines, stations, and plants.
- Ability to obtain and transfer documentation to/from Material Transfer Records, As-Builds, Red Lines, Tie-Ins, Fabrication, etc.
- Knowledge of Client/Contractor Blueprints, Piping &Instrumental Drawings and other company policies and procedures.
- Professional oral and written communication skills.
- Number or years for classification comes from client specifications.
