Structural Engineer/ Geotechnical Engineer

Star-talent recruitment is seeking an experienced chartered geotechnical engineer with structural engineering experience or chartered structural engineer with geotechnical experience to join a fast-growing multi-disciplinary organisation based in Dorset. This could be a full-time office role or a hybrid position and will see the successful candidate head up a variety of exciting projects.

Our client provides customer focused engineering and technical solutions on major projects and are a leading team in screw piles and ground screws of various sizes and designs to suit all solutions, all structural engineering calculations are done in-house, all elements of structural steelwork undertaken, from design, site surveys, inhouse fabrication and installation, Specialist in all kinds of ground works from excavation, site clearance, service installation and many other civil solutions.

Key responsibilities of the chartered structural engineer or geotechnical engineer

* The successful candidate will be Chartered and take the lead design role and act as an engineering mentor the current director. All designs currently are completed by the director who is not chartered.

* Work with the chartered subcontracted geotechnical engineers on larger commercial projects.

* Contact local architects etc to build workload and expand business.

* See client requirements, do quick models using Tekla for slabs or ground beam designs, slab designs, timber ring beam designs, prepare economical designs ready to send for quoting,

* Understand screw piles and their design to assess more complex jobs.

* Work under their own remit.

* Super structure design jobs will also be part of the roles, so ability to attend site visits and produce full design packs for building control submission and deal with changes on site and update packs.

* As work load increases, the client will add a graduate engineer to support workload.

* Work with our chartered subcontracted geotechnical engineers on larger commercial projects.

Requirements

* Chartered status acquired as a structural engineer OR Geotechnical engineer

* Experience as a Geotechnical engineer OR Structural engineer

* Driving licence

* Enthusiastic approach to projects

* A mentoring personality

* Positive approach and driven to achieve great outcomes for clients.
