What you’ll do


Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific position assigned, but they may include:

Process/Project Development Engineering


Perform unit tests and analyze operating data to improve profitability


Assist staff engineers with designs of less complex equipment such as piping, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.


Provide operating data for planning, operations improvement, economic evaluations, etc.


Assist staff engineers with troubleshooting to determine causes and solutions to operating problems


Maintain and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for the process units

Process Controls Engineering


Assist with the upgrade of Controls computers onsite


Monitor Controls network for McAfee compliance and resolve issues that arise


Monitor Controls network to ensure timely backups and resolve issues that arise


Deploy approved Microsoft updates to Controls assets


Maintain and update asset inventory list for controls assets


Update Network and Fiber drawings plant-wide


Assist with installation of new networking and controls hardware for infrastructure upgrades


Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of Power Monitoring system onsite

Environmental Engineering


Assist with tracking environmental and safety statistics


Data collection and analysis


Sample gathering


Report preparation


Use of safety and environmental equipment

Operations


Assist with daily process monitoring


Support troubleshooting efforts relating to unit upsets, product quality incidents, not meeting production plans, etc.


Work with various departments within the refinery to help support operations


Assist with area compliance with EH&S


Assist with compilation of production data

Deployed Process Safety Engineering


Perform daily safety procedure audits and inspections as needed


Assist in the delivery of the Contractor Safety Training


Support PSM including PSI; PHA; MOC; auditing; Drawing Updates, MOC Doc, T/A Help


Assist with the development of HMIS signs and labeling


Perform the annual respiratory protection program audit for the Safety Department


Engage with field personnel to understand operational challenges, provide support, and reinforce a strong safety culture


Foster positive and constructive interactions with field personnel to encourage reporting of safety concerns and ensure effective communication


Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are


Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:


Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon request (e.g. passport, Social Security, etc.)


Available to begin work on or around

September 8th, 2025


Ability to work well in a team environment


Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel


Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills

Education


Must be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program studying

Chemical or Environmental

Engineering

or related disciplines at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or program for the duration of the work term


Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered


New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities

Working Conditions


May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive


This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements


Safety sensitive positions may require the operation of a motor vehicle. Applicants may be asked to provide a valid U.S. driver’s license if offered the position

Relocation


Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses
