Chief Architect, Global Cash Management Engineering

The Team Our Global Cash Management Engineering team has a mandate to design, build and evolve scalable technology products that serve our Commercial Clients, throughout all journeys, across Scotiabank's International Banking Footprint. The Role This role is responsible for Software Architecture, Data Architecture and Solution Architecture for technology products in Global Cash Management Engineering and serves as a connecting hub for the Architecture Practice across International Banking, in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture. They will work closely with senior executives, business line leaders and a diverse set of stakeholders to assess current capabilities, identify opportunities and design future state of capabilities and technology products. The Chief Architect (Director) will also co-lead the discovery and execution of key initiatives working with teams across technology to ensure that the strategy becomes reality. What will you do? Strategy Development Work with Senior leadership, business partners and other technology stakeholders to develop vision, strategy and focus areas for transformation. Work with technology teams to understand current state gaps, future state capabilities needed and industry landscape Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions are in line with enterprise vision Architecture Leadership Lead one or more large scale technology initiatives from inception to execution working with technology teams across the Bank Work with teams to develop viable business cases focusing on moving towards target state technology architecture and capabilities. Activities include target state reference architecture, gap analysis, initiative cost/benefit analysis, hardware/software costs, resource forecasting etc. Lead project workstreams, including leading problem-solving sessions, workshops and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts Provide guidance to project delivery teams to develop integrated project plans including adequate work breakdown structure, key inter-dependencies, milestones, and resource allocation Stakeholder Management Present and communicate with our CTO, engineering heads and other senior leaders on an ongoing basis to gather feedback, report progress and solve issues Work closely with technical teams and SMEs to ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within budget forecasts and deliver value identified at inception Work closely with non-technology teams including business lines, HR, Finance and Risk to ensure technology initiatives are meeting business needs and are integrated within the bank effectively People Leadership Lead and coach a high performing team of individuals Direct, motivate and develop the team, to ensure maximum contributions from each member and considering their professional growth Share knowledge and collaborate with others within the team and with other teams across the Bank to ensure effective delivery of projects What do you need to succeed? Prior experience and deep knowledge within the technology domain is a must (e.g., software engineering, IT & Digital strategy, enterprise architecture, complex technology delivery, IT innovation) 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering Leadership, Software Architecture or Data Architecture is preferred. 3+ years of experience in Architecture leadership is preferred. Knowledge and experience in modern technologies highly preferred, such as cloud platforms, microservices, mobile and web architectures, DevSecOps, and modern data platforms. Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment. Superior interpersonal skills, leadership, and influential capabilities. Self-motivated; work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams, as both a leader and member. Good knowledge of the specific technology challenges relevant to Banking industry with a sound understanding of current banking business trends and their implications for technology. Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues. Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners, and external vendors Exceptional presentation and written communication skills. Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management Undergraduate degree in engineering; graduate degree is a strong asset Excellent knowledge with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint What's in it for you?
