Job Description
At Quest Global UK, we are actively looking for a Chief Engineer to join one of our Aerospace and Defence project based at Derby and Bristol in United Kingdom.
Role Purpose : Quest Global (Engineering) Services seeks leadership, gifted and technically inclined candidates to perform the role of Chief Engineer at its Derby, UK location. This role guides and verifies our customer “paid for” engineering services we provide from this location. The Chief Engineer works hand in hand with our Site and Team Leaders along with our customer’s technical contacts in fulfilling the needs. In addition, your governance and technical insight will help develop our people, grow our services, and enhance our customer footprint (market share) in healthy, sustainable, and alluring manners. This high visibility role requires a strong background in the Mechanical/Aero (turbomachinery) and Electrical Engineering discipline, a comfort and credibility level with the customer, ability to develop less experienced engineers, a project management mindset, and continuous improvement in all things. This rewarding position specifically serves the global Aero-engine/Aerospace Industry portion of our global business, and is one aspect of a full spectrum of global engineering “people services” we provide.
Principal Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
Customer Focus and Value
- Responsible for ensuring customer-approved methods, tools and processes are employed and deployed in support of customer requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring an appropriate internal design review process is in place across all teams, ultimately holds final responsibility for all product technical engineering solutions, with immediate focus and with a hands-on approach.

- Development of function/department technical standards and increasing knowledge of current methods, standards, developing technology, regulatory requirements, processes and procedures, ensuring an adequate suite of effective engineering policies, processes, procedures and functional expertise is available to support the design engineering needs of contracted projects.
Coach and Problem Solver
- Overall responsibility for training, mentoring and development of engineering personnel ensuring a college of experts and a spread of engineers with delegated approval status are established and maintained in support of customer and business requirements.
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
- Create technical solutions to present to customers to address specific need/issue highlighted by customers.
- Develop PoCs /Demos, if required, to demonstrate capabilities and solution approach.
- Conduct workshops with customers to demonstrate/articulate transformational solutions.
- Strive for continuous improvement, perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Relationship building skills
- Primary point of contact with customer technical function heads or equivalent points of contact. In this role, the CE will develop a strong working relationship with the customer’s key representatives.

Key Experience and any Qualifications
- Qualified to at least degree level (or possessing equivalent industrial experience).
- Chartered status preferred
- You will have established credibility within the Engineering community, having demonstrated a proven track record in a number of key roles
- A good strategic awareness of the programme and developments within the aerospace industry are important
