China Execution Planner

Role Overview: The Execution Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules and plans related to scopes of work for a major iron ore mining project. This includes overseeing design, equipment manufacturing, infrastructure works, and port facilities. The role involves close collaboration with delivery and site-based planning teams to ensure that project milestones are achieved within specified timeframes, resources, and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Development & Management: Create and maintain detailed project schedules for specific works, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and objectives.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against the schedule, identify variances and potential delays, and provide regular updates and reports to relevant area lead planners. Support in reviewing and validating contractor schedules and progress reports.
  • Coordination & Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure all planning activities are integrated and aligned with other project areas.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the project schedule and develop strategies to address them. Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed planning and scheduling reports, including progress updates, look-ahead schedules, and critical path analyses. Ensure contractors submit updated schedules and progress reports as per the agreed reporting calendar.
  • Change Management: Manage schedule changes and updates in response to project variations or unforeseen events, ensuring all changes are documented and communicated effectively.
  • Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize project schedules, improving efficiency, and minimizing delays to ensure project objectives are met.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years in project planning and scheduling within mining, construction, or heavy civil engineering sectors.
    • Specific experience in manufacturing and civil engineering is preferred.

     

  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
    • Fluency in both Chinese and English.

     

  • Certifications: Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or planning and scheduling (e.g., PSP) is an asset.
