Position Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Location: East Chicago, IN, 46312

Contract Duration: 10/1/2024 - 12/1/2024

My client, an established engineering firm in East Chicago Indiana is urgently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to start immediately. This is a long-term temporary position with a contract running through the end of 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Oversee the process of drilling exploratory borings and installing monitoring wells.
• Manage the collection of soil and groundwater samples, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
• Lead inspections and testing of concrete and rebar, preparing samples for further analysis.
• Conduct routine laboratory tests to establish design parameters and classify soil types.
• Generate and interpret geologic reports and maps, providing recommendations based on findings.
• Assess groundwater flow direction and prepare detailed project reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in site civil or geotechnical engineering; prior internships or construction experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with field inspections, soil classification, and basic laboratory testing.
• experience includes inspection of compacted fills, deep foundations, and concrete work.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification ; Engineer in Training (EIT) or willingness to obtain within six months is desirable.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office Suite, and other relevant software.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
